Fleischmann 493801 H0 Diesel Locomotive Class 218, Red-Beige, Ep V-VI ‚WestFrankenBahn‘ DB-Regio, With Active Cleaning Mechanism
This engine comes with a 2nd motor for polishing the tracks ! When converted to digital mode, it can be separately switched on and off.
Prototype: In 2010 the DB AG had the Diesel locomotive 218 105 painted in the TEE livery to have a suitable train locomotive also in service on not electrified lines. The locomotive is now regularly used infront of the "TEE Rheingold" for charter traffic at the DB-Nostalgiereisen. Officially the multi purpose locomotive is owned by the DB subsidiary WestFrankenBahn and is stationed in Aschaffenburg. Of course it is also being used infront of freight trains or for transfer trips and the lettering on it suggests the Epoch IV. The WFB was founded in the beginning of 2006 and is the 5th RegioNet of the DB AG. The enterprise leased the Maintalbahn, die Taubertalbahn and the Madonnenlandbahn from the parent group and additionally operated the passenger traffic on the DB route Crailsheim - Heilbronn and Würzburg - Lauda (- Bad Mergentheim). Model: Usable as track cleaning locomotive. For cleaning of the tracks the locomotive is equipped with a motor driven cleaning disc grinder which is mounted inside the bogie.
